NVHADS has a vehicle donation program, working with an organization that tows, titles and auctions the vehicles - whether they run or not. Proceeds from the sales go to NVHADS. Donations are tax deductible. If you wish to donate a vehicle, contact the Development.

FAQ's

Will HOV accept a vehicle that isn’t working?

Yes. HOV works with an organization that tows, cleans and auctions vehicles in any condition to a variety of buyers, ranging from retailers to scrap iron dealers.

What do I need to do to donate my vehicle?

1. You must own the vehicle with no lien on the title.
2. You must have the title.
3. Call NVHADS Development Department at 707-258-9080 and provide the following information:
ƒ Your name, address and phone number.
ƒ The address of the vehicle’s location and a convenient time for pick-up.
ƒ The year, make, model and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), which are listed on the title.

What else do I need to do?

1. If you would like to return your plates to the Motor Vehicle Division for a refund of the registration, please remove
the plates.
2. After the vehicle has been picked up, call your insurance provider and cancel coverage on the vehicle.

How is my tax deduction for the donation determined?

After the vehicle is sold, NVHADS receives an accounting and the sale proceeds. We complete the required IRS form 1098 C and mail you the appropriate copies with a letter. NVHADS forwards the original 1098 C to the IRS, per federal regulations.

Can my vehicle donation be in memory of someone who died?
Yes. Vehicle donations can be designated as memorial donations. NVHADS can notify the family members of the deceased through an acknowledgement letter, at your request.
