Questions About Brain Health and Alzheimer's Programs |
What is Mind Boosters? |
MindBoosters is a social program for people concerned about memory, in the early stages of memory loss, or for those who wish to be proactive about their brain health. The class provides socialization, support, physical exercise, brain fitness exercises and education about the functions of the brain.

Why Brain Health? |
Studies suggest that engaging in a variety of activities - like dancing, playing board games, solving puzzles or playing musical instruments - is significantly associated with reduced risk for developing dementia or memory impairment. From current neurogenesis research, we know that participating in challenging activities leads to a formation of new brain cells and new connections among these cells, a process called neurogenesis. Mental exercise physically changes the brain, just like exercising a muscle physically changes the muscle.

Yes, as part of the participant's care plan, the nurse evaluates what each participant needs. Physical therapy and occupational therapy make recommendations in terms of safety and independence. Based on the care plan, the program aides provide assistance for those who need reminders to use the restroom and provide the hands-on care necessary for those who need assistance. We ask that the family provides incontinence products to be stored at the center. Because personal care is personal, staff are sensitive in working with participants to promote their dignity.
